The Toyota Urban Cruiser is the Japanese's next electric car

After the scandal-plagued bZ4x, the Japanese are trying another electric car. Toyota Urban Cruiser is the name of the newest car in the model range.

Toyota's next electric car is called the Urban Cruiser. It is a compact SUV with a robust design, aimed at the popular segment of compact SUVs, where the range of electric vehicles is still limited.

The Urban Cruiser is based on the concept car Urban SUV Concept, which was presented last year.

The Urban Cruiser has a modern design with Toyota's characteristic hammerhead front, powerful bumpers and a wide strip of lights at the rear.

It measures 429 cm in length, 180 cm in width and 164 cm in height, which makes it slightly larger than the Toyota Yaris Cross. The wheelbase of 270 cm provides a spacious cabin with flexible rear seats that can be moved longitudinally to optimize space for passengers or luggage.

The Urban Cruiser comes with two different battery packs: a 49 kWh version with front-wheel drive and a 61 kWh version with the option of either front-wheel or four-wheel drive. Both battery packs are of the lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) type and come with a warranty of up to 10 years or 1,000,000 km.

The four-wheel drive version of the Urban Cruiser is equipped with a 48 kW electric motor on the rear axle, which provides stable handling characteristics in various conditions. Both the front-wheel and four-wheel drive versions have features that improve traction on slippery surfaces.

The Urban Cruiser is equipped with a number of safety technologies, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistant. In addition, it has a 360-degree panoramic camera that gives the driver a good overview of the surroundings.

In the cabin you will find a 10.25" digital display in front of the driver and a 10.1" multimedia touch screen with built-in navigation and smartphone integration. The MyToyota app provides access to functions such as battery status, charging stations and charge monitoring.

The Urban Cruiser is expected to be presented to the public in January at the Brussels Motor Show. Toyota will announce further specifications, equipment variants and prices at the start of the new year. It has not yet been confirmed whether the Urban Cruiser will come to Denmark.
