The police believe the electric bike burned down the carport

On the night of Friday, the authorities were alerted to a fire in a carport in Holbæk. The carport could not be saved. The villain is possibly an electric bike.

On the night of Wednesday, the police and fire brigade were called out to a fire in a carport at a house in Holbæk in West Zealand.

The carport could not be saved. It burned down. But before that happened, the owner of the house was woken up by a loud bang. That prompted him to contact the police.

This is what the Central and West Zealand Police write in the police report .

In the police report, the police write that the owner of the house managed to get a car out of the carport so that the fire did not catch it too.

The fire brigade then also smothered the flames, because they spread to the house. Now the police's fire technicians must investigate whether they can arrive at a cause of the fire.

However, the fire could possibly have started in an electric bicycle that was being charged in the now burnt down carport. However, there are examples of electrical fires having gone much worse.

Back in December last year, a motorist was charged with burning down both a house and his car with a toaster. Read more about it here .
