Prices for used Tesla models are plummeting in Europe's largest car market, Germany. Here in Denmark, searches for the brand have also dropped significantly.
Used cars are falling in price. It's no secret. But in just a few days, the price of used Teslas in particular has taken some serious hits.
This is reported by the media Wirtschaft Woche based on figures from Autoscout24.
The Tesla Model S has lost 13 percent of its value, the Model Y 17 percent, while the smallest Model 3 scrapes the bottom with a 19 percent loss in value.
Among the other electric car brands, the loss in value is 'only' around 4 percent. Here in Denmark, Bilbasen.dk reports that fewer and fewer searches are being registered for Teslas as used cars. And earlier this week, Boosted was able to tell how some owners believe they suffer from Tesla shame.
A journalist at Aarhus Stiftstidende has even called himself a hypocrite because he drives around in a white Tesla. White, just like all the other cars in the area.
On the other hand, Elon Musk's involvement in everything from Tesla to space and politics isn't exactly something that seems to scare customers away.
A new German study shows that one in five drivers is actually considering buying a Tesla solely because of Elon Musk.
Tesla is neither the first nor the last car brand to have gotten people on their feet and sparked debate in their living rooms. But right now, there is just one brand that is grabbing the most headlines. And that's both at home and abroad.
Tesla can also note that customers haven't exactly disappeared. Chinese media reported last week that 73,000 drivers in the country pre-ordered a facelifted Model Y in the days immediately following the model's online launch.
This, even though drivers have not yet had the opportunity to see the car in person. Or at best in much other than Tesla's own photos. Here in Denmark, the brand has only just presented the model at its premises in Aarhus. And that required registration to attend.
