The car brand Jaguar stops building cars

The Indian-owned British car brand, Jaguar, stopped the production of cars for a year to get ready to build only electric cars.

Jaguar as we know it is dead. The car brand will soon stop production, drop the entire model range and be quiet for a whole year.

The brand believes that this is the time that needs to be spent on converting production to consist only of electric cars.

The days when it was possible to get close to a Jaguar are also over. In December, Jaguar presents its cheapest car in concept form. The car, a four-door GT model, will cost, without taxes, from 100,000 British pounds, equivalent to 872,000 kroner.

However, the car will not hit the roads until 2028, when Jaguar believes it can capture customers from a brand such as the VW-owned Bentley.

That's what Autocar writes.

Here at home, 2 new Jaguars have hit the streets in the first 7 months of the year. And the importer should not count on much more next year. At least not of new cars.

Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover also confirms to Auto Car that the iconic feline logo will disappear. At least it is being 'rethought'. However, the director will not reveal how yet.

Something else Jaguar does is that the brand is inspired by its own past and its competitors. Some of the upcoming electric cars will have model names reminiscent of something from Jaguar's past. While several of the models, like the Polestar 4, must do without a rear window.

Jaguar's goal that it wants to be closer to being a competitor to Bentley and also only build electric cars comes after a quarter in which the car brands have almost stood in a row to drop ceilings on electric cars.

Most recently, Audi had to drop the ceiling that the brand from Ingolstadt would only build electric cars in 2033. It comes after a time when brands such as Ford, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Cadillac and Bentley have come forward with similar recognitions.
