Tesla beaten – here is the Danes' preferred car brand

After a break of a few years, Volkswagen can once again call itself the Danes' preferred car brand, even though the Germans do not sell the most popular car in Denmark.

After a few years of hiatus, Volkswagen is once again the Danes' preferred car brand. With a strong focus on electric cars, Volkswagen has managed to take first place in the Danish car market by 2024.

In a year marked by uncertainty and change, Volkswagen has been successful in navigating the market and delivering cars that match the needs of Danes. With 20,020 registered cars and a market share of 11.6 percent, Volkswagen is the preferred brand among Danish car buyers.

One of the keys to Volkswagen's success is their wide range of electric cars. The ID. family, ranging from the compact ID.3 to the spacious ID.7, has appealed to a broad segment of Danish car buyers.

The ID.4/ID.5 has performed exceptionally well in the popular compact electric SUV class. With 6,714 units sold, the ID.4/ID.5 is the second best-selling brand in the intensely competitive class.

The importer writes this in a press release .

The ID.3, the first model in Volkswagen's electric offensive, has also been successful. The compact car with good space and various battery and range options has proven to be a popular choice among Danes. The ID.3 ended up as the best-selling car in its class and number eight in overall car sales.

Volkswagen has also made its mark in the company car class with the ID.7. The spacious and comfortable electric car with a long range has won the title of Business Car of the Year for the second year in a row. The introduction of the ID.7 Tourer station wagon version has further increased sales, and the ID.7 is now the best-selling car in the premium class with 1,948 registered cars.

In the fall of 2024, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles introduced a new and improved ID. Buzz with a longer wheelbase and up to seven seats. The new variant has generated great interest among families who want a spacious electric car.

– The experience and know-how that our dealers have gained over the past four years with the sale and servicing of Volkswagen's electric ID. models is valuable in terms of making customers feel comfortable with the electric transition.

– From that perspective, the introduction of a new warranty of a total of 5 years/150,000 km** on all ID. models is also going to be an important factor.

– And we look forward to 2025, when Volkswagen will have the world premiere of two ID. models in the minicar class, which will be a perfect fit for the Danish market, so that we can get even more Danes involved in the electric transition, says Michael Ebeling, director of Volkswagen passenger cars in Denmark.
