Swedes love them – car type doubled in number since 2019

At home, the young people have mopeds. In Sweden, the A tractor dominates. Cars that are limited to 45 km/h have doubled since 2019.

Swedish youngsters have until now only had to drive their A-tractors at 30 km/h. However, a new EU rule requires Sweden to raise the speed to 45 km/h.

Unfortunately, the increased speed also deprives more young people of the opportunity to drive an A-tractor. Read more about it here .

However, the new EU rules cannot change the fact that the A-tractor is a huge hit. In fact, A-tractors are so widespread in Sweden that they have doubled in number on the country's roads since 2019.

The doubling is due, among other things, to the fact that Sweden's government, outside the EU, relaxed the rules for what goes into converting cars into A-tractors.

– Now we see more and more Porsche Cayenne, Audi, BMW and Mercedes as A-tractors, says Daniel Odsberg, sales manager at Kvdbil, who has taken a closer look at statistics from the Swedish Transport Agency, in a press release .

According to Kvdbil, the most popular car brands to build A-tractors are Volvo and Nissan. Almost as popular is rebuilding Suzukis and Scania models.

Another choice, which may be a little surprising, is also Suzuki and the truck brand Scania. Among the Suzuki models, it is especially the Vitara and Grand Vitara that the young Swedes are rebuilding.

However, there is also a flip side to the coin. Because the A tractors are overrepresented in the accident statistics. However, nothing can be said about the effects of the new EU rules yet.

– Seen in relation to the number of tractors, A-tractors are overrepresented in the accident statistics. So it is good that something is being done to increase security.

– At the same time, many new requirements are now being introduced at once. It remains to be seen what effects it will have on the interest in A-tractors, says Daniel Odsberg.
