Alpine is promoting the just 21-year-old reserve driver Jack Doohan, so that in 2021 he will share the garage with Frenchman Pierre Gasly. There is thus one less seat for Kevin Magnussen.
Kevin Magnussen's chances in Formula 1 in the coming season are getting smaller and smaller. Alpine has given its one available seat to reserve coach Jack Doohan.
The team writes this in a press release .
From the press release, however, it only appears that Doohan has been given a one-year contract. Namely for the 2025 season. Doohan replaces Esteban Ocon, who had his contract torn up earlier this year.
However, Ocon will continue in Formula 1. He will, in turn, take over the seat from Kevin Magnussen at Haas, who has also given a seat to a very young Briton. Read more about it here .

– I am so pleased to secure promotion to a full-time seat ahead of the 2025 season with the BWT Alpine F1 Team.
– I am very grateful for the trust and faith from the team's top management. There is so much work ahead to be prepared and ready and I will do my best in the meantime to absorb as much information and knowledge to be ready for 2025.
However, Alpine has a lot more work ahead than just getting the young rookie ready for Formula 1. It is said that the Renault factory, of which Alpine is a part, is so desperate to leave Formula 1 that the team has already secured an engine delivery from Mercedes. An agreement that can enter into force from 2025.
Kevin Magnussen also played a single season for Alpine in 2016. At that time the team was called Renualt. But there will be no reunion. At least not next season.
