Polestar is busy persuading Tesla owners to switch sides. Or at least cars. In the US, the brand is offering a bonus of 143,000 kroner per car.
Polestar offers Tesla owners a potential financial gain of approximately 143,000 Danish kroner for switching car brands.
The maneuvers come in the wake of a significant sales increase in the United States, where Polestar has seen a significant increase in sales of its Polestar 3 model.
The fact that sales are now increasing may be due to the Swedish-Chinese brand going after Tesla owners in particular.
Polestar launched an offer that gave Tesla owners a total discount of 20,000 US dollars. The offer included 5,000 US dollars in a dedicated Tesla discount and another 15,000 US dollars in a so-called environmental bonus.
The result is a cash discount of 143,000 kroner and a significant increase in interest from Tesla owners who are at least considering changing cars. At least if you ask the brand itself.
Will give more car owners money to switch
For a period, Polestar recorded their highest sales figures for the Polestar 3 in the US to date.
Sales Manager Jordan Hoffmann commented on the development via the social media LinkedIn.
– The numbers speak for themselves. In the past week, we have experienced some of the best order days for Polestar 3, and the response to our Tesla Conquest offer has been significant.
Polestar has been facing financial challenges and has recently taken out loans to cover losses. At the same time, there is growing opposition to Elon Musk in the US, which may have influenced car buyers' choices.
The Polestar 3 is produced in the United States, which could potentially have implications for trade agreements and taxes.
However, the Trump administration plans to continue with the ban that predecessor Joe Biden wanted to impose on Chinese brands from 2027. First with software, then hardware – that is, actual cars.
Back on LinkedIn , Jordan Hoffmann has more than indicated that there may be additional bait on the way for other drivers.
– The interest is noticeable, momentum is increasing, and as I always say – we've only just begun!
– We have more to come, and there is good reason to follow the upcoming initiatives, writes Jordan Hoffmann.
The Polestar 3 is manufactured in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. But that may not be enough for the Chinese-owned brand to sneak around the upcoming ban.
Polestar will try to meet the potential restrictions. But the brand has already been furious about the prospect of a ban. However, sister brand Volvo is not so worried. Read more about it here .
