The generally lower demand for new electric cars also spills over to used ones, which are now cheaper than older petrol cars.
What does the market want most at the moment?
If you ask the drivers, it's new hybrids. And it comes at the back of a large number of car brands. Among other things, Volkswagen is surprised that it is now new hybrids that motorists want to see in.
But there is also a fierce battle for customers on the second-hand market. And the extreme price pressure on new cars rubs off on used electric cars to such an extent that they are now cheaper than used petrol cars.

Because it is a dramatically different picture than the one painted on the used car market just a year ago. In June 2023, used electric cars were on average 25 percent more expensive than their equivalent cousins that run on gasoline.
Explanation must, according to iSeeCars, i.a. found in the fact that the prices of electric cars generally fell through the middle of the whole of last year, because they stabilized around February.
Since then, however, the prices of both new and used electric cars have taken several hits. Mixed in Denmark, where a brand like Tesla has lowered the price significantly to get empty stocks. Warehouses that are actually so large that they can be seen from space. Read more about it here.
And now we are in a situation on the second-hand market where it is actually as much as 8.5 percent cheaper to buy a used electric car than to go out and throw money at a used petrol one.
