More than 8,000 cars are being recalled because the windscreen can fall out

The rear window can actually do the same. Porsche in the USA has found that the windows do not adhere sufficiently.

Porsche in the US is now recalling over 8,000 copies of the 911 model built in Germany, because both the front and rear windows can fall out in the event of a traffic accident.

According to the US road safety authorities NHTSA, it concerns 8,101 911s that Porsche has built between 2020 and this year.

From the publicly available recall document, it is not clear which specific 911 models are affected.

But Porsche first became aware of the problem back in November 2023. Specifically, there is a risk of the windows coming loose because they may not adhere well enough to the weakest points in the window frames themselves.

For the same reason, Porsche believes that in the event of a traffic accident there is a risk that the windows will not stay in place. And flying glass has never been a good idea.

However, the German brand is not aware of any accidents where the glass has been torn from the cars. Neither front nor rear windows. Porsche does not have any personal injuries in this connection either.

However, the brand says that significant wind noise or fog inside the car can be a sign of the problem. Porsche must now inspect all the windows to find out if it is necessary to replace the glass coated with a different type of window adhesive. Something that should stick better.

8,101 cars sounds like a lot, which it is. But when it comes to recalls among car brands, they are almost imperceptibly few.

Recently it emerged that Mercedes is recalling 105,000 cars. Among other things. because the pedals can fall off. And a third car brand fears to lobby tor for spare parts, because 2.6 million cars have to go back to the workshop. Read more about it here .
