Mechanic shatters myth that motorists have believed for years

For years, many motorists have believed that a 'full inspection' of their cars provides peace of mind. Also a long way into the future. But that's not true, says the mechanic.

A mechanic has debunked a widespread myth about what actually happens when car owners ask for a "full inspection" of their cars when they roll into the garage.

When something goes wrong with the car, most motorists quickly seek help from a mechanic to ascertain and rectify the problem.

In this connection, many car owners ask for a "full review" of the car to get a handle on all possible problems. But according to a mechanic who has shared his experiences on TikTok, that's not just how it works.

– Imagine that a customer comes into the workshop with an ABS light on. We investigate the cause of the ABS light, and then the customer asks: 'Have you also found out what is wrong with the sound of the radio?', he says in the clip.

The mechanic further explains that there is no "magic tool" that can simply be attached to the car and reveal all its problems. Such a complete diagnosis that covers everything simply does not exist, he explains.

He humorously adds that if there was a machine that could reveal all the car's problems, many mechanics would probably be out of work.

He elaborates on his example by pointing out that if a customer had an ABS light problem repaired and the check engine light came on a week later, he would recommend the customer come back.

Should there be the slightest risk that the fault is connected to the repair, he will look into the matter. But he emphasizes that the problems are usually completely independent of each other.

– It is important to understand that the car's systems are constantly being tested, and parts can break or wear out, explains the mechanic further.

It supports the point that problems can occur unrelated to previous repairs and that technological components in cars often develop faults over time.

The mechanic's advice to car owners for the same reason is very simple: Build a good relationship with your mechanic or your workshop. This creates an open dialogue so that the car owner can better understand the condition of the car and deal with concerns when they arise.
