Malmo prohibits all speeds over 30 km/h

Malmo is, if possible, even more after drivers than is the case in a number of Danish cities. Now anything over 30 km/h is prohibited in the city.

In the Swedish city of Malmo, which is just across the Øresund, the city government has decided to lower the speed in the city.

This means that anything over 30 km/h will be prohibited in most of central Malmo. Because the speed limit was 40 km/h.

This is written by Sydsvenskan .

In this way, Malmo relies on speed restrictions that we already find in a number of other European cities. In large parts of Copenhagen, for example, you may not drive more than 40 km/h.

The chairman of the Swedish Cyclists' Association, Cykelfrämjandet, Per Hasselberg, has previously complained that the speed does not come down further in Sweden. He would prefer that motorists be prohibited from speeding over 20 km/h.

Germany, for example, is already so far ahead with bans. Because in Frankfurt the speed is reduced to exactly 20 km/h. However, it also goes beyond the cyclists. Read more about it here.

Here at home, Odense municipality already decided last year that it must also be prohibited to drive at more than 20 km/h in most of the city. According to the so-called 'green mobility plan', the new speed limit must apply to everything from roads in the city centre, residential roads and on major approach roads.

In Funen's largest city, however, they will not introduce a so-called zero-emission zone, which a rule change last year otherwise gave all cities in Denmark the right to.
