Lasse's illegal license plate is still causing problems for the police

Lasse Markmoller Hansen became nationally known when his license plate 'UNKNOWN' caused him serious problems. Today, he is still stopped by the police.

Lasse Markmoller Hansen from Nykobing has actually removed the 'UNKNOWN' license plate from his Ferrari F355 a long time ago. But it still gives him problems.

Even though he got the money back for the license plate, things haven't gone smoothly in the police systems. The car has been mistakenly reported as stolen.

He tells TV Midtvest .

"I desperately tried to explain the story and that it had been mentioned in the media. Fortunately, one of the officers recognized the case and we escaped the scare," he tells the media outlet.

The case actually began when Lasse Markmoller Hansen went to the media to talk about how parking fees were just pouring in that were not his fault.

But because the parking companies wrote 'unknown' next to the registration number when there were problems with a parking case, the fee ended up with Lasse Markmoller Hansen.

He has shown 17 of these kinds of confusions to TV Midtvest.

Lasse Markmoller Hansen tried to ignore the charges, but when they kept piling up, he took action. He started tearing them up and sending bills of 850 kroner to the parking company for his time spent on objections. It all ended with a settlement, where the Ferrari owner received just under 6,000 kroner for the parking company's harassment.

After the case, he thought the problem was solved. However, he was stopped several times by the police. This happened because the police systems apparently also registered "unknown" as a term for cars without a known owner.

This summer, a police patrol stopped him in the middle of Langebro in Copenhagen. His car was mistakenly marked as stolen, even though the license plate had long since been removed.

He and a fellow passenger were asked to get out of the car and stand with their legs spread and their hands on the car.

Today, Lasse Markmoller Hansen is considering only one thing – namely whether to have 'KENDT' written on the next desired license plate.

Since he got his money back, the Danish Motor Vehicle Authority, which is responsible for unwanted license plates in Denmark, has also withdrawn permission for the use of that license plate combination. See other rejected license plates in Denmark here .
