Half of motorists experience dangerous traffic each week

Every single week, half of all motorists experience that the roads are becoming dangerous, a new Norwegian survey shows.

The vast majority of drivers probably know the difference between good and bad driving in traffic. Even so, half of the drivers in a new Norwegian survey say that they experience dangerous traffic jams on the roads every single week.

This is written by Norwegian TV2 .

50 percent of motorists thus experience and see dangerous and frightening traffic jams on the roads every week, according to a new survey carried out by Norstat for Frende Forsikring.

– There are more on the roads in the summer months and preferably more in each choir. Many on roads they do not know. Therefore, it is extra important to adapt to the conditions and not take unnecessary chances, says general manager of the Norwegian Road Safety Association, Geirr Tangstad-Holdal.

From the beginning of 2024 until the month of July, 51 people had lost their lives on Norwegian roads. That is six more than if you compare with the same period of 2023.

At home, according to the Council for Safe Traffic, the latest figures show that 155 were killed on Danish roads in 2023. A good 2,700 people were injured.

Back in Norway, research indicates that it is mainly the use of screens in cars that steals the drivers' attention. Often it is the ever-larger screens, which are actually built into the cars from the factory, that steal attention from the road.

Still, it is worth noting that the amount of traffic also presents challenges. Among other things. because many of the roads in Norway, which are not built for that much traffic, are used extensively.

– Many choirs on roads that are not designed for such large volumes of traffic as in the summer. So you have to be extra careful when you get behind the wheel, says Tangstad-Holdal.

At the insurance company Frende, it is pointed out that there is still a huge backlog when it comes to the expansion of the Norwegian road network. Neither the standard nor the size of the roads is good enough in several places.
