First Volkswagen brand ready with a 5-year warranty

While at home you have to buy a five-year warranty, Cupra in England now offers the same period as standard.

Here at home you can get a Cupra with a five-year warranty. But then it costs extra.

The English importer has now completely abandoned that idea. Instead, a 5-year warranty has been made standard equipment on all the brand's models. This also applies to cars that are already in stock.

This is what the brand says in a press release .

The guarantee scheme is something only the British can benefit from. There are thus no reports of the same spreading to the rest of Europe and thus Denmark.

But with the new warranty, Cupra is the first brand in the VAG group to offer such a long warranty. Neither the premium brands Bentley nor Lamborghini offer the same.

Even though Lamborghini actually promises a 3-year warranty for all factory-new cars. Back at Cupra, the managing director in England, Marcus Gossen, says it's all about safety.

– Our new five-year warranty across the model range makes the Cupra even more appealing. We want to assure our customers that they are covered by a comprehensive warranty so that they can enjoy the experience of a new car.

– It is very important to us that our cars are available. And by increasing the warranty on our model range to 5 years, we give customers peace of mind on the road, says Marcus Gossen.

However, Cupra is not the car brand with the longest new car warranty. We have to go far away from the Volkswagen group to find that.

South Korean Kia officially offers a 7-year factory warranty. But as FDM describes, it is far from everything on the car that is covered by that guarantee.

The brand exempts a large number of parts from warranty provisions. PR manager at Kia, Lene Mejdal Iversen, believes that the brand's customers are "quite well informed" about what the 7-year warranty does not cover.
