Desperate car importer gives DKK 120,000 for other people's cars

There are so many new car brands on the market that the battle for customers is bloody. Now a dealer of Chinese Seres is offering to give DKK 120,000 for the customers' old cars.

Trade-in prices are the order of the day at car dealers. But it is still rare that an importer will give DKK 120,000 in exchange for a used car.

But that is the case at Tunga Bil in the Norwegian city of Trondheim. This is written by Norwegian TV2.

The amount, which corresponds to 75,000 Danish kroner, is only beaten by the price of a new Seres 5, if the trade-in car meets a number of requirements.

The car must be inspected and equipped with summer tires and accompanying winter tires when the dealer takes it in exchange. In practice, Norwegian TV2 believes that this applies to 99 percent of all cars that already drive around Norway.

However, the offer is not valid forever. In fact, it is only an offer for a number of stock cars. However, Bilimportoren's director, Tore Bjornstad, is not afraid of burning down the older cars that the customers had to give in exchange.

"No, it's not that bad. We have received some older fossil cars, and these have gradually gone out again through an auction system," he tells Norwegian TV2.

The Seres 5 is an electric SUV built by the Seres Group. The group is partly owned by the communist dictatorship in China via a local government in the municipality of Chongqing.

The car brand is still waiting for a Danish launch and thus pricing in Danish kroner. But the Norwegians can get a four-wheel drive version with 585 horsepower and 940 Nm for around NOK 600,000.

The dealer will not immediately reveal how many motorists have jumped on the bandwagon and received the 120,000 kroner in trade-in price/discount. But to Norwegian TV2 it is revealed that there are still "few cars left".
