Danish car factory is closed – everything is moved abroad

The Danish car factory Garia is now closing down, even though it actually focused on Danish car production. Now the production is moving abroad.

Denmark's only car factory.

This is how Garia, which builds golf cars, described itself in 2017. But soon the brand no longer exists. At least not with production at the address in Viborg.

That's what Finance writes.

Garia moves the entire production abroad. To the media, the factory's director states, among other things, that it is difficult to make money at a car factory in Denmark.

– It is not super easy to make money at a car factory in Denmark.

– But with the new car factory in Poland, we clearly believe that we can create a profitable business under our new owners, it says.

Garia was owned by the Lars Larsen Group for 15 years, but the company was sold here in 2022. After years of losing millions on the bottom line, American Club Car has taken over the company, which is now moving to Poland.

The factory in Poland is not the only place where the Garia cars will be built. This is already happening at a factory in the USA. According to Finans, Club Car has paid around DKK 500 million for the Viborg company.

Since 2016, Garia's cars have been assembled, tested and prepared at the factory in Viborg, but the fact that it is Denmark's only car factory is a bit of an understatement.

Zenvo Automotive, which is probably no longer Danish-owned, still builds cars in Præsto. Here, it recently presented its first accounting profit in several years. Read more about it here .
