Comedian turned down 175 million kroner for famous Porsche

World-renowned comedian Jerry Seinfeld relented at the last moment when his famous Porsche from the movie Le Mans was offered for 175 million kroner.

The deal was actually done, the highest bid was a whopping 175 million kroner for comedian Jerry Seinfeld's famous Porsche 917K from 1969.

But at the last moment, Seinfeld, who is at least as well known for his car collection as his comedy, relented and withdrew the car from the auction.

The car is otherwise exactly the same as the one driven by actor Steve McQueen in the classic film Le Mans from 1971. A car the American later bought.

Jerry Seinfeld, who is known for his particularly great passion for the Porsche brand, had ensured that the car looked exactly as it did during the filming of Le Mans when it was restored back in 2001.

And even though it cost him several million, he wasn't ready to let the car go to auction this weekend.

This is reported by the Houston Chronicle newspaper.

Why Jerry Seinfeld changed his mind is not mentioned in history. But according to Mecum Auctions, which handled the sale, which came to nothing, the Porsche would have been one of their most expensive sales ever.

That is, if the deal had gone through. Where the car is now is another question. But the comedian probably took it home to his collection again.

A collection that, in addition to the 917 K, includes models such as several 911s and a prototype of the Carrera GT from 2000. Just to name a few cars.

In recent years, Boosted has reported on quite a few spectacular car auctions both in Denmark and internationally.

At home, for example, Peter Christiansen first found his father's entire car collection after the accountant Poul Christiansen had passed away. The cars were hidden with tons of spare parts.

When Peter began to explore the many barns that housed his father's belongings, he was surprised by the extent of the collection.

In addition to several youngtimers, including models such as the Opel Rekord, Omega and Astra, he also discovered a 30-ton warehouse of spare parts. And that alone on Lolland.
