Celebrity's electric car has lost DKK 850,000 in value

He drones around in the world's coolest cars. But Tim Burton alias Shmee150 also takes the financial beating for it. A Porsche Taycan cost him DKK 850,000.

Porsche Taycan rattles down in value. Boosted has previously told how the brand new model lost more than a quarter of a million kroner in 28 days.

One of those who have experienced the terrible loss of value, on their own finances, is the YouTuber Tim Burton alias Shmee150. He only bought the electric car lightly used in November 2020, for the equivalent of DKK 1.38 million.

Especially when you adjust for the very modest registration tax the British pay for the vast majority of cars, it's an awful lot of money. But it gets even worse.

Burton sold the car after 18 months of ownership in March 2022, when it had just under 10,000 kilometers. And it was good. Because there has since been an even wilder loss of value than what he himself had to eat.

He sold the car for DKK 1.19 million, corresponding to a loss in value of almost DKK 200,000 in less than two years.

– It sounds like a lot of money, but considering what it costs today, I'm the one who got lucky, says Burton in a new video.

According to Burton, the same car – a four-year-old Porsche Taycan Turbo S – has lost two-thirds in just four years. The YouTuber points out that the massive loss in value is due to motorists' fear of electric cars and their durability in general and not so much to the Porsche itself.

– Unfortunately for Porsche, the Taycan has become the horror example of electric cars that are losing their value at an alarming rate.

Burton also has a very special connection to Præsto in Denmark. Boosted could tell about that several years ago. Read more about it here .
