Last week, one or more perpetrators attempted to set fire to a Tesla store in the US. When they failed, 'Nazi' was written on several cars, among other things.
Nazi accusations and vandalism have hit a Tesla store in Loveland, Colorado. An angry activist has written "Nazi" on the building. This is the latest in a series of incidents targeting Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk.
Police received a report at around 7:00 a.m. that someone had attempted to set fire to Tesla's store in the city. The incident is believed to have occurred shortly after midnight.
In addition to the attempted arson, the building and several vehicles were vandalized with graffiti, some of which the police later described as 'offensive and hateful'.
Police have not released specific details about the graffiti, although it was previously reported that it read "Nazi Cars," a description police have since deleted from their report.
Video footage circulating online also shows several cars with a spray-painted "X" on their windshields.
This is reported by CBS News Colorado .
The attack is interpreted by some as a reference to Musk's controversial salute during a celebration for President Trump, who recently returned to power in the United States.
Musk has also expressed support for right-wing groups, including the German AfD party.
The incident in Loveland is the third of its kind in recent weeks.
Previous incidents were reported on January 29 and February 2. However, these are described as less serious.
Police are investigating the case. They are seeking the public's help in identifying those responsible.
The FBI and ATF are also involved in the investigation.
The vandalism comes at a time when Elon Musk is a controversial figure in the United States, with some customers expressing concerns about being targeted by hate crimes due to their association with Tesla.
The latest incident underscores the growing anger directed at Tesla and Elon Musk. But where it comes from is still unknown. In Germany, in January, a group of activists managed to write 'Heil' on Tesla's factory on the outskirts of Berlin. Read more about it here .
It is unclear whether the various incidents are connected. Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
