Admitting joke – dead car brand does not come back

Pontiac is long since dead and buried as a car brand. Still, an ad in a print automotive magazine gave some fans false hope.

Pontiac is not resurrected!

Not even if an ad in the latest print edition of the American car magazine Car & Driver more than suggested it. Because the hint was a joke made by the editors.

The picture – and the accompanying text – were otherwise unmistakable. So, almost not. With the headline "Make Some Noise" followed by a Pontiac logo, one could well be led to believe that General Motors has breathed new life into the car brand that closed completely in 2010.

This is written by Carscoops , which has caused General Motors to deny the news.

But it has nothing to do with it. Car and Driver now recognizes that. The whole thing otherwise sounded convincing. Pontiac would, it appeared from a full-page text, be resurrected with a " hybrid V8 engine with a whopping 676 horsepower. Especially since a Dodge Challenger can no longer be bought ," it said.

But that is not true. Or yes – you really can't get a Dodge Challenger anymore, but Pontiac is not resurrected for that reason.

The number of GM car brands was also drastically reduced when the group went bankrupt during the financial crisis and had to be bailed out by the US government. The price? Among other things, Saab, which GM had bought 100 percent of in 2000, had to do. Read more about it here .

However, Pontiac is not the only car brand that is in the past. Another American car brand is also expected to be soon.

At the time of this article's publication, it has been exactly 30 days since Fisker Inc. said it would seek bankruptcy protection within 30 days if no resolution to the brand's financial problems was found. Read more about it here .
