Renault now offers a divorce guarantee for people in electric cars

In England, the Renault importer is so sure that love holds behind the wheel of a new Scenic that the car brand now offers a divorce guarantee. So with reversed sign.

Renault is now so sure that you will not be divorced over the purchase of a new car that the English importer will give the money back if it should happen in a new Scenic.

This is written by the English newspaper The Sun.

According to the English importer, the new electric Scenic, whose full name is Scenic E-Tech, is so comfortable to drive that it actually guards against divorces/breakups between lovers.

– This car is so perfect that we promise you happiness in love. Otherwise, we will give you your money back, says Renault in England.

Concretely, the 'guarantee' means that Renault in England will buy back divorced families' Scenic E-Tech if/when mum and dad separate. However, the divorce is not enough in itself. Because there are a few additional conditions.

Among other things, the car must have been bought from an authorized Renault dealer. The car must also not have been bought as a company car. In this way, Renault will probably escape quite easily from its ceiling on buybacks from couples affected by divorce.

According to The Sun, 80 percent of all new electric cars in England are currently registered as company cars. Doing it that way is associated with a number of tax advantages.

In addition, couples who separate must be able to document that they have been married and have now officially separated, because Renault will cough up the money in connection with a possible buyback. The car must not be leased either.

For now, the divorce guarantee is only valid in England and at Renault's own dealers. On the other hand, the importer is liable for the offer for the rest of 2024, so there is still a risk that some English couples may get seriously tired of each other.
