Recalling 7,000 cars – may break in the middle again

Nissan's American sub brand Infiniti is now recalling 7,222 cars built between 2011 and 2019, because the axles can break in the middle.

Recalls are the order of the day. At least in the automotive industry. Some are bigger, others are smaller – some are downright dangerous.

One of the latter balances the Infiniti on the edge of. In up to 7,222 cars built between 2011 and 2019, the brand has concluded that the drive axles can break in the middle.

Specifically, it concerns six models that must have the drive axles checked. And if Infiniti finds the fault you are looking for, the axles will be replaced free of charge.

Carscoops writes that.

Infiniti says the problem has primarily affected rear-wheel drive cars. So the four-wheel-drive siblings go free. At least initially.

Generally, the car brands usually tell how they found the fault or at least were informed about it. But Infiniti hasn't said much about it. And on the US Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website, there isn't much to track either.

There are also very few complaints about the problem. All Infiniti says is that the problem is due to 'a change at a supplier'.

Incidentally, this is not the first time that Infiniti has recalled cars with defective drive shafts. Exactly the same thing happened in 2020. Also then, there was a problem that was only found on the rear-wheel drive models.

The new recall suggests that the brand has found that the problem is bigger than first thought. On the other hand, the number of cars is still in the small things department.

At Ford, they have just recalled 500,000 cars at once. According to the brand, this is due to a dangerous gear change. Two people are said to have already been injured due to the error, while it has meant at least one traffic accident. Read more about it here .
