VW spends DKK 500 billion. kroner from electric cars on petrol and diesel

Volkswagen regrets one hundred percent investment in electric cars. Now the internal combustion engine must be 'kept competitive' with a billion investment.

Last year, Volkswagen set aside 180 billion euros, equivalent to 1,300 billion kroner, for the development of future electric cars.

But now the entire pool of money does not have to be spent on electric cars anyway. In fact, the German brand is now ready to take 60 billion euros, equivalent to 447 billion Danish kroner, and spend them on internal combustion engines.

According to the brand's financial director Arno Antlitz, by pouring the enormous amount of money into the internal combustion engine, Volkswagen ensures a competitive development of the technology.

That's what Automotive News Europe writes.

Volkswagen still insists that "electric cars are the future", but as Antlitz also says, the time of the internal combustion engine is 'not over yet'.

It is a markedly different statement from the one Volkswagen managing director Thomas Schäfer made just a year ago, when he called the internal combustion engine an outdated technology when asked about synthetic fuel. The so-called e-fuel.

Something the Volkswagen Group is actually working on. Most recently, Lamborghini has announced that, among other things, will go that way. So in the direction of synthetic gasoline.

Porsche is already producing synthetic gasoline. It happens at a factory in Chile. Just as factories are planned to shoot up in other countries. Among other things. USA. Read more about it here.

Volkswagen has previously said that it will exclusively sell electric cars in Europe in 2033. In the meantime, however, several of the competitors have not only begun to falter but have withdrawn similar objectives completely.

Ford, which originally set out with a goal of being three years ahead with a model program of electric cars, now says that it will no longer only sell cars wired for the European bulbs.

At Mercedes, they are also ready to scrap their goal of electric cars. And managing director Ola Källenius is said to have even ordered the development of two new electric car platforms closed for economic reasons. Read more about it here.
