Toyota stops production immediately and admits to fraud

The Toyota safety fraud seems to be growing unabated. Now the brand admits again to having cheated with several cars in Japan.

Toyota has admitted that it has cheated on safety in connection with crash tests of even more cars than first thought.

For the same reason, the Japanese have also stopped the production of several models which are sold on, among other things, the domestic market, in the rest of Asia and in Latin America.

CNN writes that.

Toyota admits to having manipulated the part of the crash test that concerns the protection of pedestrians. But it is not only Toyota models that have been cheated.

It is, several media write, also cheated immediately in the Lexus RX. On Monday, Toyota's top management, led by chairman Aiko Toyoda, held a press conference where the extensive fraud was admitted.

Toyota allegedly provided insufficient information about the cars' ability to protect pedestrians and passengers in the event of an accident.

Just as the brand has changed the cars' construction but used data from older models to obtain a safety certification. In this way, Toyota has been able to avoid going through a series of new crash tests.

According to the Japan Times, Toyota has already taken the consequences and stopped the production of the affected models: Yaris Cross and two Japanese Corolla models immediately.
