These BMW owners get the most speeding tickets, research shows

It may hardly come as a shock that BMW owners gather at speed booths. But new figures reveal it's definitely not behind the wheel of an M5 model.

A certain type of BMW owner gets by far the most speed bumps. This is shown by a settlement from the American insurance company Insurify.

Now it can hardly come to anyone's back that BMW owners almost collect at speed booths. In fact, the car brand's customers have a reputation for taking up a lot – and often everything – in the mirrors among the other traffic.

And not only that. BMW owners' reputation for stubbornly refusing to use the turn signal has prompted the German factory to come up with a guide. Read more about it here.

Joking aside, the figures actually show that it is i3 owners who have the hardest time with the traffic law. Among the insurance company's data on customers (4.6 million requests for coverage, ed.), it turns out that as many as 17.6 percent of i3 owners have received at least one speeding ticket.

So high a proportion of speed bumps is not found among other motorists in the large data set. And to make it all even more confusing, BMW Z4 owners seem to be the most well-behaved in traffic.

Just 4.5 of the Z4 owners state that they have received a speeding ticket while they have had a driving license. Interestingly enough, the biggest 'speed devils' – or at least the most of them – typically drive German, Japanese or South Korean cars.

And that is actually far from the only interesting thing the insurance companies can tell about their customers. Older drivers, for example, cause the vast majority of traffic accidents. Read more about it here .
