VIDEO: Blue BMW cruises around Denmark with impunity

In the past few days, a clip of a diplomatic car harassing two cyclists in Copenhagen has been circulating. The driver in the car, however, is free of punishment.

As long as there are blue number plates on a car in Denmark, the driver behind the wheel can be as crazy as he or she wants.

The number plates are reserved for diplomats who cannot be punished in Denmark. And behind the wheel there is nothing to do against their drivers either.

In principle, drivers or diplomats can run Danes down or run into other motorists with impunity. The police or the courts can do nothing.

In March 2022, however, the embassy employee left Denmark after he was caught driving 126 km/h in a 60-zone in Hellerup. Read more here .

And now it's so wrong again. In recent days, Ekstra Bladet has told about a diplomatic driver who faced two moped choirs because they were – legally – short on the road.

It has now emerged that the car belongs to the South African embassy in this country. The ambassador even sat in the car during the performance.

However, neither the Ministry of Education nor the South African embassy will say anything about the driver's behaviour. Not even the Motor Authority, which will contribute with the legal aspects of the case, has responded to Ekstra Bladet's inquiry.
