Car brand in crisis closes exhibition in Denmark

In 2021, Volkswagen settled down at Rådhuspladsen in Copenhagen. Now they are no longer the Danes' preferred car brand and disappear from the ranking again.

It was at one of the absolute most exclusive addresses – namely Rådhuspladsen in Copenhagen – that the Volkswagen importer Semler opened a showroom in 2021.

But now it disappears again.

Volkswagen would otherwise use the site to show what could be done with new electric cars. But just three years later, the brand says that the so-called City Studio has played its part.

This is written by several media – among others the Motor magazine and Finans .

The Semler group's Ulrik Drejsig is now happy about the closure. He believes that motorists' desire for electric cars is so great that it has overtaken the purpose of the location on Rådhuspladsen.

Therefore, he does not fear that Volkswagen as a brand will become less visible to the Danes. Not even if the brand got a gigantic beating from Tesla in 2023. At least when it comes to Danish sales figures.

Semler's announcement about the Danes' desire for electric cars stands in stark contrast to reports from abroad. In fact, we don't have to go any further than Germany, because the picture is completely different.

After the German government removed all public support for electric cars with immediate effect in December, sales have plummeted. Read more about it here .

In England, too, both diesel and petrol cars have progressed at the expense of a retreat for new electric cars. And here at home, the desire for used diesel cars in particular has returned after several wild price drops.
