Dodge takes patent because new electric car must sound like a V8

At Dodge, it's not over with the V8 engine. Not yet anyway. But when electric cars take over, motorists must be 'cheated'.

Dodge has already made a bid for how the electric relay for both the Dodge Charger and Challenger should sound. Hear it yourself here .

We're not giving too much away by saying it's nothing to shout about. But now Dodge might make another attempt.

In any case, the brand has recently patented a release that will give the "feeling" of sitting in a muscle car with a V8 engine. Even if that is not the case at all.

That's what Mopar Insiders writes.

The patent describes a 'device' that causes the steering wheel to 'shake'. Why then? Yes, because Dodge believes that the same is the case in a muscle car with a V8 engine.

Dodge calls the system Active Sound Enhancement. And it covers a number of sensors that measure various parameters around the electric car.

The signals from the sensors, which measure, among other things, acceleration and the revolutions of the electric motor, must in turn inform a 'central unit', which ultimately emits 'appropriate sounds'.

But there is more. Because with the Active Vibration Enhancement system, for which Dodge will also have a patent, the car brand will create vibrations that match the sounds from the ASE unit.

In this way, Dodge's owner, the Stellantis Group, is convinced that you can create an exciting driving experience in the electric cars of the future.
