Iconic car movie returns – the script is ready

Director Hallvard Bræin now says that the fourth Borning film is ready. So is Richard Andersen and the 'starring' Ford Mustang 'Little Yellow'

Richard Andersen owns perhaps Norway's most famous yellow Ford Mustang, Lillegul. The car plays a central role in the Borning films.

There is now talk of a possible Borning 4 film. Andersen announces that both himself and the Mustang are ready for new filming with instructor Hallvard Bræin.

This is reported by Norwegian TV2 .

Hallvard Bræin is the director behind the Borning trilogy. The three films have achieved great popularity among car enthusiasts. The films have also won several awards since the first one was released in 2014.

The sequel came in 2016. The third film landed in the middle of the pandemic in 2020. Now it seems that a fourth film is on the way.

Richard Andersen has appeared in all three Borning films. He is a stunt driver in his own car, Lillegul. This is the car that the character Roy, played by Anders Baasmo, drives.

Over the years, there have been many intense action scenes in the three films so far. 'Little Yellow' has also taken more beatings than it deserves. At least in the world of film.

Little Yellow and Doris the Stunt Car

– Richard is a skilled driver. Many of the shots are demanding, says instructor Hallvard Bræin. –

– We need someone who can really drive a car.

Andersen even had to dress up during filming. In a scene from the earlier films, Roy's daughter, Ninna, had to drive Lillegul. Therefore, Andersen had to wear both breasts and a wig.

– It was a bit special, says Andersen about that experience.

The filming for the films has taken Andersen and Lillegul far and wide. They have filmed in Murmansk for Borning 2, among other places. In connection with Borning 3, they went to the famous Nürburgring in Germany.

These trips around the world have not been without challenges.

"Russia was very special. It was in winter," Andersen says.

He describes the days there as 'very special recording days'

More about Borning and Films about cars

What not everyone knows is that a copy of Lillegul is often used. It is called Doris and acts as a stunt car in selected scenes. This ensures that the original Lillegul is spared.

"They are identical," Andersen says of the two yellow Mustangs.

– Many people probably don't realize that we use both cars.

Andersen, Lillegul and the stunt car Doris are ready. If a Borning 4 becomes a reality, the team behind the iconic car is ready for new adventures.

Interest in the Borning universe and the cars remains strong. The films have created a solid fan base.
