Renault wants to build more Fast and Furious cars

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is just the beginning of the fleet of Fast and Furious-inspired cars from the 00s that the brand will revive, the design chief promises.

If Renault has its way, there will be many more Fast and Furious cars on the roads. That is, cars with extremely wide fenders and equally wide rims.

The cars that most car enthusiasts will probably remember from the films of the same name in the early 00s.

This was stated by the French car brand's design director Laurens van den Acker when the new Turbo 3E was shown to the public recently.

This is what Autocar writes.

Specifically, he believes that there is now a window of time when cars of this type can make a comeback. But it will also be before too long.

– If you wait too long, people will have forgotten about these kinds of cars. And if you're out with them too soon, it won't be cool enough.

– When we launched the Alpine A110 10 years ago, we hit something right. It was perfect because it was a 50s and 60s-style car. Here we said; We have to do something now, because if we wait 10 years, these kinds of cars will have disappeared.

Therefore, Laurens van den Acker believes that now is the time to revive the style from the 70s and 80s, because the F&F style could make a comeback in about ten years.

For Renault, this could mean the brand releasing a new version of the Clio V6 and the Lotus-based Sport Spider. Whether the cars will have combustion engines by then is a different matter.

The new Turbo 3E, for example, doesn't have that faint whiff of petrol. Instead, the car runs entirely on electricity. And the chances of you ever seeing one on the street are slim to none.

Unfortunately. Because the French only build 1,950 cars. Moreover, all the cars come with a crazy price tag. Read much more about it here .
