Motorhomes worth 9 million can be driven on a category B driving license

It's a bit tricky. But if you got your driving license before July 1, 1996, you can drive this 9 million kroner motorhome with a category B driving license.

Old driving license rules from 1996 mean that it is legal to drive a camper van worth 9 million kroner with a regular B driving license.

People who have obtained their driving license before July 1, 1996, can get behind the wheel of one of the largest luxury motorhomes on the market without any further requirements. Later, the rules were changed, so that today it requires category C – i.e. a driving license for a large truck.

In Denmark, you can only acquire this type of license when you are 21 years old. However, the EU will grant it to people as young as 17 years old. Read more about it here.

An anonymous buyer recently invested in a Swedish-built motorhome for a price of 9 million Danish kroner.

The large camper, built by the Swedish company ATV Racing Team, is designed with a focus on exclusive details and has space for a motorcycle and two regular bicycles to be taken on a trip.

The large motorhomes are available – also on category B driving licenses

The vehicle is a 2021 Mercedes-Benz NL Exclusive GIGA Space, and it hasn't been driven much since it left the factory. In fact, it's only been driven 15,000 kilometers.

The interior of the motorhome is equipped with a wide range of comfort features that make it more than suitable for longer stays.

The kitchen has a stove, oven, dishwasher and a spacious refrigerator. The dining area is also large enough to accommodate several people without any problems.

The materials used for doors and hatches are reportedly of a quality that can withstand both intensive and prolonged use.

In terms of engine, the camper is equipped with a large diesel engine, which despite its size is relatively fuel efficient. But then again, everything is relative in that context.

Inside there are two large TV screens and a bathroom with both toilet and shower. The sleeping area is also spacious, and the bed is of a size that should guarantee a restful night's sleep.

The sale of motorhomes of that size is far from everyday. Because even though these types of things are generally expensive, Mercedes are many notches more expensive.

But they are available. Also used. The Boosted editorial team has managed to find a couple more GIGA Space cars in France, among other places.
