Polestar 2 drops 131,000 kroner in price in Denmark

The Polestar 2 is dropping in price by a whopping 131,000 kroner. But this is only happening in Denmark, which will get some Nordic Edition prices, the importer says.

The Swedish-Chinese brand Polestar is now pushing up the price of its own model range in Denmark. With the so-called Nordic Edition package, the Polestar 2 drops in price by 131,000 kroner.

According to the Danish importer, however, the price is not being lowered to empty out the stock of cars with less equipment.

– We are experiencing increasing demand for electric cars that combine premium equipment, long range, a strong driving experience and an attractive price.

– Our new Nordic variants meet that need and at the same time strengthen the electric car market in Denmark with a series that is tailored to Danish consumers and driving conditions, says Henrik Bang, Managing Director at Polestar in Denmark.

The brand believes that with the new equipment variant, it has filled its cars with the equipment that Danes demand most.

Polestar 2 is reduced by DKK 131,000 – but only in Denmark

– Nordic Edition offers a fully equipped Polestar – regardless of model – with Pilot and Plus packages – with optional metallic paint, it says.

Figures from the car importers' association Mobility Denmark show that electric car sales continue to increase in Denmark, so that the car type now accounts for two-thirds of all new registrations in Denmark.

The Polestar 2 is the oldest model in the brand's current model range. But the younger models Polestar 3 and 4 will also receive the "Nordic Edition" badge and a price cut.

Polestar is neither the first nor likely the last to cut the price of new electric cars in Denmark. However, the importer states that the prices are effective from today – Thursday, March 13, 2025.

Here in Denmark, the brand has had a particularly good hold on leasing customers. In July 2023 , a report showed that the Polestar 2 was the most leased car in the entire country.

According to figures from the Danish Car Importers (now Mobility Denmark, ed.), which Polestar referred to at the time, private leasing of electric cars increased by 142 percent in the first half of 2023, when compared with the same period the year before.
