Gasoline prices plummet to new low

There is good news for Danish drivers. Gasoline prices are falling. On Tuesday this week, they hit a new low despite increased taxes.

The price of gasoline in Denmark has hit a new low in 2025. The prices of gasoline and diesel have fallen significantly.

According to TV 2 Fyn, prices have fallen by almost one krone per liter within the past month.

The figures come from the so-called list prices, which are adjusted daily based on the international oil market.

– It is a reflection of the uncertain winds blowing across the world economy at the moment, Ole Sloth Hansen, commodities analyst at Saxo Bank, tells TV 2.

The energy company OK states on its website that the price of a liter of gasoline has fallen by 40 cents since March 1, which is the lowest price since the turn of the year.

The recommended list prices are approximately 1.2 kroner higher than the prices applicable at the stands at the unmanned gas stations.

On Tuesday, the pump price for gasoline was around 13.49 kroner per liter, while diesel was available from around 13.19 kroner per liter.

Since Donald Trump became president of the United States again in January, he has initiated a number of initiatives that have created unrest, especially in the financial sector.

Ole Sloth Hansen explains that it is the trade tensions that have contributed to the falling prices at gas stations.

– This creates fears for global economic growth and thus also the demand for gasoline and diesel, says the commodity analyst.

The US president's initiation of a trade war has dampened consumer confidence and affected demand for oil.

– We are basically entering a period where the market fears that more will be produced than is demanded, adds Hansen.

The falling prices have a positive effect on certain industries, such as agriculture, which will soon start spring work. Ole Sloth Hansen predicts a further price drop in the short term.

Although the price of gasoline has fallen in Denmark, it is still higher than in Sweden, where a liter of milk is currently more expensive than a liter of gasoline.

But here too, it is not expected that the price of petrol will increase anytime soon. The government has promised to keep taxes at the EU's absolute minimum level. Read more about it here .
