Lowest of the year – Gasoline prices plummet in Denmark

Danes can now feel in a tangible way that power has changed in the US. Gasoline prices have fallen to their lowest level this year.

The prices of gasoline and diesel have fallen to their lowest levels of the year so far. This is due to several factors. But the change of power in the United States is playing a particularly big role at the gas stations.

A significant reason for the decline in gasoline prices must be found in recent international political announcements.

Donald Trump's inauguration as president has led to uncertainty among political leaders in both Denmark and Europe.

Trump's threats to impose tariffs on European goods such as cars have also created a nervous oil market.

According to Jan Bylov, energy analyst at Jyske Bank, Trump's tariff threats have made the oil market fear for fuel demand in general.

Gasoline prices could fall even further, says analyst

– The oil market is nervous about what Trump's announced tariffs will mean for fuel demand.

– And when the expected demand decreases, people are already reacting now. Those who buy oil are not buying as much as they usually do.

"And that's why the price of oil on the international market has taken a dive," he tells Avisen Danmark.

The reduced demand has led to a decrease in the price of crude oil, which has subsequently affected the price of gasoline at Danish gas stations.

According to fuelfinder.dk, the price of a liter of unleaded 95 gasoline was down to 13.89 kroner in some places.

However, it is uncertain how long the low gasoline prices will last. Jan Bylov expects that prices will increase soon. Therefore, it can only be a question of taking advantage of the prices for a short time.

The analyst notes that there may, however, be new fluctuations in gasoline prices after the summer holidays.

However, international developments have clearly shown that it is possible to influence the price of gasoline and cause a decrease in a shorter period.

Meanwhile, fuel prices continue to fall outside Denmark. On the other side of the Øresund Bridge, Swedes can currently fill up on gasoline at Europe's second-cheapest price per liter.

Cheap gasoline was and is an election promise of the Swedish government. However, many experts have warned that the EU's fuel quota system called ETS2 will significantly increase fuel prices.

Some warn of a liter price of 23 Danish kroner.
