Former Danish director: Elon Musk doesn't care about Tesla

Elon Musk has lost interest in Tesla. That's the clear message from Esben Pedersen, who was the brand's communications manager in Denmark for many years.

Elon Musk has lost interest in and in Tesla.

That's how specific the statement from the car brand's former communications manager for Denmark and Norway, Esben Pedersen, is.

In a comment to Motor magazine, he makes it clear that the rich man's interest is moving in other directions.

– Elon Musk is particularly good at two things; exploiting people and situations to his own advantage, and then committing 100 percent to what he believes in, says Esben Pedersen.

Since leaving Tesla, the Dane has repeatedly been critical of the brand's CEO, whom he says he met personally over 20 times in the eight years they worked together.

In 2023, it was no surprise to the former Danish communications manager that Tesla ended up in a conflict with unions throughout the Nordic region. A conflict that is still ongoing in Sweden.

Here, unions are trying to prevent Tesla from getting new license plates, just as it is impossible for Tesla to expand its network of charging stations on the other side of the Øresund.

It's no secret that Elon Musk, as the frontman for Tesla, has repeatedly spoken out against the whole idea of unions.

In an opinion piece published by The Guardian in December 2023, Elon Musk is quoted as saying that having unions only creates class differences – namely, masters and their subjects.

Here in Denmark, Tesla, despite the director's connections to the White House and President Donald Trump, is still selling well. Although things have been going much better.

The advantage of individual car models is that the Model Y is still the sixth most popular car in all of Denmark. And that regardless of fuel. However, Tesla has completely fallen out of the top 10 when it comes to sales among brands.

Conversely, Elon Musk as a person is not necessarily bad for the American car brand.

In a survey conducted by Automobilwoche, one in five people said they would actually buy a Tesla precisely because of the director's character, appearance, actions and demeanor. Read more about it here .

The CEO is not the only one making sensational statements from the management team at the car brand's headquarters.

So does Lars Moravy, who is the technical director. In an interview with long-time talk show host and YouTube car enthusiast Jay Leno, Moravy says that the American car brand may have gone too far.

– At Tesla, we have always said that if you don't take away so much that you have to put something back, you haven't taken away enough.

– Well, maybe we took away too much, says Lars Moravy about the missing stalk for the turn signal. Something Tesla removed from several cars in 2023.
