The video camera itself also has a night mode, which means that the laser can also be used when darkness falls. This is how far the police's lasers measure. In addition, the laser's built-in GPS ensures that the police always know exactly where a car is measured. In addition, the new laser devices are constantly online, and they measure up to 3 times per second. Depending on wind and weather conditions, a fully charged laser will have enough power for the police to measure road users for between 8 and 10 hours at a time. But how far do the new lasers shoot? The short answer is long. More precisely, the manufacturer itself states that TruCAM II can measure vehicles at distances between 1,200 and 1,500 meters. However, the laser works best at distances between 15 and 150 meters. A welcome contribution This summer, Deputy Police Inspector Henning Pedersen, head of the Operative Traffic Department, called the new lasers a welcome contribution to the police's other efforts. – They (new lasers, ed.) give us better conditions for stopping drivers who drive too fast, so the new lasers are thus helping to increase traffic safety, he told TV2 Lorry.
