Car brand in crisis – cuts everything by 70 percent

Mitsubishi is not doing well at the moment. The brand, which is practically dormant in Denmark, is now lowering its expectations for 2025 by 70 percent.

Mitsubishi is significantly lowering its expectations for this year's financial results. The Japanese automaker has lowered its net profit forecast for the fiscal year ending in March 2025 by a whopping 70 percent.

Mitsubishi announced the disappointing news in connection with the presentation of their third-quarter financial results.

Mitsubishi now expects a net profit of 35 billion yen, equivalent to approximately 226 million dollars or 1.6 billion Danish kroner.

This is a significant downward revision compared to the previous forecast from May 2024, which was 144 billion yen. The downward revision is primarily due to weak business sales.

Added to this are increased marketing expenses in North America, as well as rising supplier costs as a result of high inflation.

This is reported by Nikkei Asia .

Mitsubishi has also adjusted its sales targets for the year downwards. Management now expects to sell 848,000 cars during the year, down from 895,000 previously.

However, it is still an increase compared to the 815,000 units sold the year before. The majority of the loss comes from poor numbers in Southeast Asia, where the brand is otherwise strong. But last year, sales failed to meet expectations.

Mitsubishi is particularly having problems in Thailand and Indonesia, where they have previously had great success.

Mitsubishi has been in the media lately, mainly due to their potential involvement in a merger between Nissan and Honda.

Which, however, on Wednesday this week is said to have completely collapsed .

But that hasn't improved Mitsubishi's prospects. On the other hand, it was only five years ago that Mitsubishi announced that it was withdrawing completely from the European market.

The plans even went so far that the English importer sold off his enormously valuable car collection, only to learn a few months later that the Japanese were staying on European soil after all.
