Toyota is the world's largest car brand for the 5th consecutive year

Despite a decline in sales, no one can beat the Toyota Group when it comes to passenger car sales. It sold over 10 million cars.

The Toyota Group, which also includes Lexus, has published its sales figures for 2024. And no other car brand can match them.

Because even though the Japanese declined 1.3 percent compared to 2023, 10.1 million cars were still sold across the Toyota and Lexus brands last year.

Even without the December figures, which have only just been published, Toyota was a full 618,438 cars ahead of the entire Volkswagen Group combined.

This is what Motor1 writes.

This means that for the 5th year in a row, Japan is home to the largest car brand in the world. And this is despite Toyota's sales actually declining in 2024.

The third and final place on the 2024 podium for car brands belongs to the Hyundai Group, which also includes Kia. The South Koreans have sold 7.2 million cars over the past year.

So what is it that Toyota is spraying onto the streets at a furious pace? It may not be so surprising Corolla models. But if you break it down into individual car models, Tesla actually sold more Model Ys than Corollas were sold all of last year.

This is also the case here at home, where the Japanese generally had to settle for third place. While Tesla came in second and VW number one, when the 173,047 new cars in Denmark were counted.
