World champion wants to throw Magnussen out of Formula 1

Kevin Magnussen must be suspended from a Formula 1 race for his 'misconduct' during the Monaco grand prix, Jacques Villeneuve believes.

The former Formula 1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve prefers to see Kevin Magnussen thrown out of Formula 1.

The Dane should be suspended for one lob, believes the Canadian, who won it all in 1997. Above all, in just his second season in the world's finest motorsport.

But even though Jacques Villeneuve has not sat in a Formula 1 car since 2006, he still believes that Kevin Magnussen should be punished.

Specifically, the Dane must be excluded in a lob, because Jacques Villeneuve believes that K-Mag was entirely to blame for the accident between him, Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg on the first lap of the Monaco grand prix.

– If you want to steer side by side, you must be side by side – not your front wing by the rear wheels. What is it about?

– The fact is, Magnussen did not get out of the car and say: 'Sorry, I made a huge mistake'. Instead, he suggested that it should have been the other way round, says Villeneuve in an interview according to the English Mirror .

However, Villeneuve did not let Magnussen off the hook so easily. Because the now 53-year-old racing driver, who in his career was known to have a hot temper to say the least, has more to say on the matter.

– Excuse me? What planet do we live on? The total lack of understanding on Magnussen's part amazes me. We are in Formula 1. It is not Formula 4, where a 15-year-old may not have that understanding yet.

In fact, the Canadian finds it very difficult to understand that neither the international motorsport organization FIA nor the Formula 1 organization chose to let the incident pass as a racing incident. In other words, something none of the choirs involved could or can be accused of.

– It was too much. It was dangerous. It was ridiculous. And he was in 17th or 18th place or something. He didn't even go for the liner. Come on. First round and you can't even judge it. It's crazy, says the former world number one.
