People who do street racing are "out of reach", says boss

Three were killed when, according to the police, two men raced on the Hillerod motorway. People who organize street races cannot be reached, says the head of the Council for Safe Traffic.

There is not much to do. At least not to reach people who organize illegal street races in Denmark.

According to Mogens Kjærgaard Moller, who is the managing director of the Council for Safe Traffic, these types of drivers are completely indifferent.

Promotions and solicitations simply bounce off them. The only thing people who do illegal street racing have respect for is when the police come after them.

That's what Ritzau writes.

The only effective solution is police intervention to get these extreme road users off the roads, says Kjærgaard Moller.

At the weekend, three people lost their lives on the Hillerod motorway. The police believe it was because two men were illegally cutting corners on the stretch.

One of those who lost his life was a 33-year-old man who, according to the police himself, was short in the 'race'. In this connection, a 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with reckless driving and failing to render assistance in connection with the accident.

It is not the first time that people have lost their lives on that stretch of the Hillerod motorway. Already in July 2020, the Road Directorate told TV 2 Kosmopol (the former Lorry, ed.) that five people had lost their lives on the stretch over the course of seven years.

In subsequent years, even more motorists have lost their lives on the spot. And at the weekend it went wrong again.

Since March 2021, any kind of street race in Denmark has been equated with crazy carousel. It has already cost several motorists both the correcard and their cars. In June 2023, a 27-year-old man lost a rare BMW on that account. Read more about it here .
