Oh no! Now the price of petrol and diesel is rising in Denmark

After a period of calm, both petrol and diesel prices are now rising in Denmark. However, it has a completely natural explanation. Summer causes demand to increase.

It is almost now that the Danes are starting their summer vacation. And it can be felt – especially in the price of petrol and diesel which is now rising.

More people simply have to spend more. And that naturally causes the price to rise. This is the assessment of Ole Sloth Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank, in a comment to Ekstra Bladet .

Over the past month, the price of oil has risen significantly. Both European and American oil have increased by 10 percent in the period.

On Wednesday evening this week, a tonne of WTI oil, the one from the USA, cost just under 83 dollars, equivalent to 573 kroner. However, it is still far from the record high level of fuel prices in June 2022.

Here at home, the price already jumped above 20 kroner on 7 June that year. Already months before – more precisely around March – it was clear that the price of oil would explode. Here the price was already 130 dollars per tonnes of European Brent oil.

According to Ole Sloth Hansen, the price of oil is already 15 percent higher compared to last year. This means slightly more expensive petrol.

However, not all types of fuel are the same for motorists. Some gas stations, for example, have completely removed certain types of 'petrol' because the battle has plummeted in recent years.

And actually to a level where the demand – or the lack of it – makes it a bad business to have in the pumps. Read more about it here .
