New Golf R is Volkswagen's fastest petrol car ever

With 333 horsepower, the last ever Golf R with a gasoline engine is also the most potent the people at the Wolfsburg factory have ever built.

The Volkswagen Golf sings on the absolute last verse. At least as a petrol model.

And this even though the factory in Wolfsburg has just moved 500 billion kroner from a pool for the development of electric cars to the development of the internal combustion engine. Read more about it here.

It is expected that the next "Golf R" will actually be its own brand of car. In any case, Volkswagen has plans to separate the R models into a semi-independent electric car brand.

So the latest Golf R, which is based on the Golf Mk. 8.5, is on many last calls. The car has gained 13 horsepower more, so that the two-liter, four-cylinder gasoline now produces 333 horsepower, sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and hits its electronically limited top speed at 270 km/h.

Volkswagen hasn't actually built a petrol car faster than that for. At least not one that has been put into series production.

Here at home, the Volkswagen importer has neither said anything about the new Golf R nor its possibilities on Danish asphalt yet. For the same reason, Boosted does not know about prices or equipment packages here at home. But we are following the case and will update the article when there is new information to report.

The Golf R is not the only German car that has received a facelift. So does BMW's 5-Series. And not just any 5. No, because now the top model M5 is a… hybrid. Read more about it here .
