Worldwide, Mercedes must now recall more than half a million cars due to software problems in a wide range of cars built up to this year.
Mercedes owners around the world will soon be notified that their cars need a trip to an authorized workshop.
This is because there are problems with the software for the steering gear in the cars. So far, however, it is only right-hand drive cars that Mercedes believes may be affected by the error.
It will, among other things, mean that cars in Great Britain, Australia, Japan, India and South Africa need a trip to the workshop. But there are actually also cars on the home market in Germany that Mercedes needs to look at.

According to the German response to the Swedish Transport Agency, KBA, it is about 22 cars. On the other hand, the software bug is not picky.
In any case, it can be in both electric, petrol, diesel and hybrid cars that Mercedes has built right from 2017 until this year.
According to KBA, these are the following models: A-class, B-class, CLA, EQA, EQB, GLA and GLB.
In the worst case scenario, the fault that Mercedes has now identified can mean a deterioration of the power steering. But the brand cannot rule out that the steering gear can be completely removed.
To remedy the problem, Mercedes' technicians must now start installing new software in the cars. The good news is that no one has been injured so far as a result of the error.
Incidentally, the failure comes on top of a record year for Mercedes. So not on the sales lists, but in the number of errors. In the course of the whole of 2023, Mercedes had to recall various models 38 times because of the error.
According to EU Safety Gate, which keeps track of the number of recalls in the EU, this is the highest number of recalls among car brands present in Europe.
