Europe is not ready for these electric cars, Danfoss believes

The government wants more electric trucks on the roads already. But Europe is not ready at all, believes Danfoss, who sent a car from Nordborg to Le Mans in France.

1,300 kilometers.

Or the distance from Nordborg in Denmark to Le Mans in France. The trip is just not ready to take place in a truck.

The technology is more than ready for the electrification of heavy transport. But it's not Europe, says the driver Claus Hansen, according to TV SYD .

The truck from Denmark faced a number of challenges along the way. That is, in addition to the cow down through Germany, which everyone can be affected by. This concerns, among other things, about bureaucracy in Belgium and various conditions under which the trucks must be charged.

The charging part itself provided, among other things, challenges in France. But Danish hauliers are still in a hurry to switch to electric trucks. From 1 January 2025, all trucks over 12 tonnes must pay road tax according to how much CO2 they emit.

The agreement, which a political majority has adopted, means that the hauliers must pay up to DKK 2.03 per short kilometers in a truck on most roads in Denmark. And already from 2028, the plan is that all roads in this country must be subject to tolls for lorries.

And although several organizations have pointed out that the tax makes it more expensive to be Dane – and both drivers and hauliers have complained – Tax Minister Jeppe Bruus (S) is proud to have introduced the new tax. Read more about it here .
