Electric cars don't need to look like garbage, say several car brands now

The Halcyon concept car is an example of how electric cars don't just need garbage, Chrysler believes. The former sister brand Mercedes has actually said the same.

It may soon be the end of separate electric cars. Maybe we'll actually get cars on the road that look like… well, cars.

Chrysler CEO Christine Feuell now says she has an example of that.

The car is called Halcyon. And although it is – at least for now – only a concept, it points in a completely new direction for electric cars. If you ask Chrysler.

Carscoops writes that.

In connection with the exhibition Amelia Concours d'Elegance in Florida, the Chrysler boss was told that the concept car points in the direction of where the brand wants to go. Also when it comes to aerodynamics.

– The car is an example of how good aerodynamics can be achieved without drop-shaped electric cars, said Feuell.

And she is not the only car boss who has acknowledged this. Because motorists don't really like the general design of electric cars.

At Mercedes, which between 1998 and 2007 was actually related to Chrysler, they have come to the same realization. Something that means the Germans are moving away from 'smooth, round shapes'.

The brand's deputy director in the engineering department said this back in February. However, the distinctive design is not the only thing that Mercedes gets rid of when it comes to electric cars. Read more about it here .
