The Danish municipality is extorting people in fossil-fuel cars with a new card

In Ringkobing-Skjern Municipality, they do not believe that there is any other way forward for the green transition than electric cars. Now the municipality publicly exhibits people in other cars.

There is no other way forward for traffic than the electric car. At least not in Ringkobing-Skjern Municipality.

The municipality wants citizens to replace 10,000 petrol and diesel cars with electric cars by 2030. The municipality believes that this is climate-friendly.

This is what Ringkobing-Skjern writes in a press release .

And now Ringkobing-Skjern is ready to display the areas where there are both the fewest and most electric cars in the municipality with a digital map.

Jesper Lærke, chairman of the municipality's climate council, believes that the map should be inspiring. In any case, it should show that the electric car is eventually for everyone.

– The transport of the future needs to be green, and we hope that the map can help to emphasize that electric cars have gradually become for everyone.

– It is intended that the map, in a dynamic and inspiring way, shows the transformation from fossil fuels to electricity that the cars in the municipality will go through in the coming years.

– Only a few years ago, people in electric cars were a bit lonely on the roads in the municipality – I don't think they do that anymore, says Jesper Lærke.

The municipality itself states that there are currently 18,736 registered petrol cars and 16,527 diesel cars in Ringkobing-Skjern.

The map is divided into shades of green, where the green bands mark where the most electric cars drive around. However, the desire for far fewer fossil-fuel cars in Ringkobing-Skjern is not necessarily the future.

In any case, a number of car brands believe that it should be the drivers – not laws and regulations – who decide what goes around on the roads. Read more about it here.
