New Xpeng G6 gets faster charging and 80 other updates

The upcoming version of the Xpeng G6 can be charged in record time and has new technology, more comfort and a lower price, which should make Tesla and BYD shake in their pants.

Xpeng has launched a new version of the G6, which offers significant improvements. One of the most notable changes is faster charging. The new model supports 5C charging, which means the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 12 minutes. Carnewschina.com writes.

The faster charging time makes the car more usable in everyday life. Even at temperatures of -30 degrees, the new technology works, ensuring charging in cold climates. Xpeng hopes the upgrade will make the G6 more competitive in the electric car market.

The car was unveiled in China on March 13, where it immediately attracted a lot of attention. In just seven minutes, 5,000 copies were pre-ordered. At the same time, the manufacturer has lowered the starting price by almost 12 percent compared to its predecessor.

The electric motor produces 218 kW and has a torque of 450 Nm. The G6 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. It is built on an 800V platform and has an energy consumption of 12.5 kWh per 100 km.

New design and better technology in Xpeng G6

Xpeng has updated the car's appearance with a wide light strip that acts as a turn signal. A new variant, "Dark Night Black", features black rims, black brake calipers and a dark gray interior.

Inside, the car has been upgraded with a 15.6-inch touchscreen, controlled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295P chip. Voice commands are handled via Xpeng's proprietary X-GPT technology.

The seats have new features such as massage, heating and ventilation. A 9-inch digital rearview mirror screen has also been added. There are also softer materials in the cabin to improve comfort.

Xpeng has set the price lower than its predecessor to make the G6 more attractive compared to competitors such as the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7.

Increased competition in the electric car market

The faster charging and updated technology should help increase sales.

The car is equipped with Turing AI, an advanced assistant system that uses dual NVIDIA Orin chips with a combined computing power of 508 TOPS. The system combines radar and 8-megapixel cameras to improve driving in both urban areas and on highways.

Xpeng is betting that the many upgrades will make the G6 a stronger player in the electric car market.

The combination of fast charging, advanced technology and a lower price should make the model even more competitive in an industry with many players.
