Mercedes has changed its logo – can you see where?

Mercedes is the latest in a series of car brands to change their logo for one reason only: the digital screens in new cars. Can you spot the change?

Mercedes-Benz has discreetly adapted its well-known star logo. The iconic Mercedes star is now flat and white on digital platforms and in communications.

Mercedes-Benz has changed its logo without much attention. The new Mercedes logo design is a flat, white star. The change happened back in February. Many people didn't notice it right away.

The famous star is now featured in the company's new annual report design. It is also used on social media and in other digital communications.

Mercedes made the change quietly. That is, without telling anyone about it. There was no official press release or launch event.

The new look is intended to give the brand a more modern look. It should also be clearer and more effective online. The flat version works better on screens. It is an adaptation to the digital age.

Fans of the classic design can rest assured, however. The familiar three-dimensional chrome star will continue to adorn the cars. It will still be on the hoods, steering wheels and rims.

This isn't the first time Mercedes has tried a flat design. Back in 2007, they briefly introduced a similar flat version.

Digital design for the future

However, it didn't last long. In 2010, the switch was made back. Under the then director Dieter Zetsche, it was believed that the 3D star was more representative.

Now Mercedes is trying again with a simplified design. This comes at a time when simplicity is often seen as an advantage. Company sources say that the change was deliberately kept discreet.

It's about modernizing the brand's appearance. Flat design is part of that strategy. It's an adaptation to today's digital forms of communication.

The logo is a central element of Mercedes' identity. The three-pointed star has a long history. It was registered as a trademark in 1909.

The star symbolizes the vision of the founder Daimler. He wanted to create engines for use on land, at sea and in the air. These are the three elements that the star's points represent.

The star's historic journey

Over the years, the logo design has changed many times, from the original golden star to versions with a laurel wreath. The evolution reflects the trends of the time and the development of the company.

But the three-pointed star itself has always been at the core. It is one of the world's most recognizable trademarks. The current change to a flat design is another chapter in the logo's history.

This underscores a movement towards digitalization and modernization. It is a trend seen in many large companies. Simplification of logos for digital platforms has become common.

Mercedes is following a broader trend. But they are doing it in their own, quiet way. At the same time, they are retaining the classic logo on the products themselves – the cars.

The new flat logo is primarily used in communication and on digital surfaces. It ensures recognition across platforms. It is a practical adaptation to a modern media reality.
