Failure on a Danish electric car cost DKK 114,000

It has been seen several times. Also in Denmark. Adding the wrong oil to electric car's cooling systems can be very expensive. In the worst case fatal for the car.

Does an electric car need oil? Yes, it actually has to. Just not on the engine. But several components in the electric car actually depend on oil to function.

However, it does not matter what oil is poured on the cars. Especially when it comes to air conditioning systems, choosing the wrong oil can be hugely expensive.

That's what Motormagasinet writes.

The explanation lies in the often extremely advanced coal and heating systems that the electric cars are equipped with. In an interview with the media, several Danish companies recommend that the A/C system on electric cars should at least be checked at intervals of just one year.

– We will fashion a number of electric cars in the future that have breakdowns in A/C systems due to errors in workshops and from suppliers, says Daniel Vesterskov , a technical specialist at the company Waeco, to the media.

According to the sources the media spoke to, the errors occur because there are now quite a few oils on the market that do not meet the car brands' regulations.

Having said that, oil for electric cars is not the only thing that can end up in ugly and very expensive mistakes. The same applies to undercarriage treatment.

For example, a professional found damage worth DKK 50,000 on a Danish-registered Skoda Enyaq, after the owner had had the undercarriage treated. Read more about that case here .

Other car brands are certainly not too keen on giving their cars an undercarriage treatment at all. Parts of Tesla's warranty actually expire in those cases. Read more about it here .
